I can relate all too well. My folks still lived on the farm up until Dad died 2.5 years ago. Mom wanted to stay but she hates snakes and the last 5 years they multiplied in the house. All like yours, the common Rat Snake a.k.a Black Snake. A nice snake, really, but still not house pet material. I'd get called to remove them (live about 2 miles away), day or night. I don't kill them, just carry them 1/4 mile away and release. Now Mom's in a new smaller house, without Rat Snakes!
