Just read through the Non-Smoking Chronicles, Speck, and you rock! Keep going!

I doubt that it helps much, but know you have a cheering section.

Keep it up - it does get better - I love the drawings. I should do some of my own. Today's made me laugh, especially the toilet paper.

Hang in there girl... you're getting there... try a road trip tomorrow... go somewhere you are NOT allowed to smoke.. examples, libraries, or the local hospital, visit every floor's waiting rooms and draw the people and the furniture. Eat in there cafe (no smoking allowed) walk the halls, no one will bother you if you stay out of restricted areas :-)
You're doing great...you can do this.

Great drawings. I didn't realize you were a teacher. At least that will keep you occupied for a while.

How do you get rid of the nicotine cravings if you are using patches?

And I gave up on whole-grain pasta. It's gritty and tastes terrible. I figure it's more important what you eat with the pasta and how much of the pasta you eat that really matters. I know all the docs want us to up our fiber levels but fruit and veggies taste better than that pasta!

Laure - Thank you! I very much appreciate the support.

Julie - Yes, yes! Would love to see your drawings!

Capt Elaine - As a matter of fact, Miz Dee and I are planning a road trip, hopefully tomorrow. I'm driving. That should keep me occupied for a while.

freebird - I'm an introverted geek accountant. Hubby is the teacher - 8th grade history. I would go bonkers in a classroom full of 8th graders. Eeek!

How to get rid of the nicotine cravings with the patches? I'm not sure how that's supposed to work exactly but here's my guess. It's a 10-week program and in that time I'm supposed to develop alternate habits for the times I would normally smoke, after meals for example. I have to train my brain to expect to do something different.

The level of nicotine steps down little by little to the last patch level which has very little drug in it. It's a weaning process.

On the whole wheat pasta: I compared the nutritional panel to that of regular pasta and the only difference was the fiber content. Everything else was the same. If it's icky we'll go back to the regular stuff. But I'll give it a big Girl Scout try first. We both love dark whole wheat breads, the chewier the better. We've been eating those for years including whole wheat hotdog and hamburger buns.

Historical triva: In WWII, Americans feed German POWs white bread and the Germans thought they were being punished. They normally ate hearty black breads. (This tidbit from Hubby the History major.)
